Stronghold Camp and Retreat Center
Stronghold Camp & Retreat Center is a year-round camping and retreat facility located on the Rock River north of Oregon, IL and is a mission and ministry partner of Blackhawk Presbytery. The facilities include dining and meeting rooms of all sizes, seven lodging options able to accommodate 6 to 56 guests, wilderness cabins, and a camping area. The iconic Castle, completed in 1931 by Chicago newspaperman Walter Strong, is a popular destination for retreats, meetings, tours and special events. The beauty of nature exists in a variety of environments from oak woods to a hilltop prairie, all along bluffs overlooking the scenic Rock River.
Founded in 1963, Stronghold Center, Inc. was incorporated as a distinct entity, separate from Blackhawk Presbytery on January 1, 2021. Stronghold proudly offers a variety of Christian and secular events. Their unique programming includes summer camps for ages 6-18 plus intergenerational camps for all ages, high ropes and challenge courses, and other retreats. Stronghold is also a great location for one-day seminars, business meetings, professional development programs, church picnics, family reunions and more!
