Transitions and Transformational Committee

The Transitions and Transformational Committee’s mission includes being the Presbytery experts on Ministry Information Forms (MIFs), Church Leadership Connection (CLC), and pastoral leadership options. Its purpose is to aid and guide congregations and Sessions through times of pastoral leadership changes and could also include how to help a church complete its mission and close.

The Committee’s work could include:

• Counsel with sessions regarding temporary pastoral services when a church is without a minister of Word and Sacrament (MWS) and provide lists of MWSs and CPs (commissioned pastors) to supply vacant pulpits.

• Counsel with churches regarding calls for permanent pastoral relationships and options with CPs. See the work of the P.L.O.E.T (Presbytery Leadership Options Exploration Team) in the guide below.

• Provide training and oversight for non-PCUSA ministers serving congregations.

• Work and guide Sessions in churches through the pastoral call process. This includes working with Pastor (or Associate Pastor) Nominating Committees on the MIF & CLC process, etc.

COM’s work could include:

• Act upon the following requests: labor inside the bounds of Blackhawk Presbytery; all temporary, supply, interim, and CP relationships; placement on the Presbytery pulpit supply list, and authorizing CPs to celebrate the Lord’s supper, baptism, and moderate a Session.

• Act between Presbytery meetings for transfers of installed MWSs in and out of Blackhawk Presbytery where ordination is not required.

• Act upon the following requests: covenant/contract renewals for temporary pastors, dissolution of an installed pastoral relationship, terms of call for installed positions (candidates, transfers, and minister members).

• Approve new, or removal of, installed pastoral positions at the request of congregations.

• Recommend to the Stated Clerk the establishment of an Administrative Commission of Blackhawk Presbytery to ordain/install clergy.
