May 2010 Presbytery Meeting

Third Presbyterian Church, Rockford hosted the May 11 meeting of Blackhawk Presbytery, with the worship service coordinated by Rev. Murray Hanson. The Domestic Violence Awareness Network presented the learning opportunity—The Church Is Called. Stronghold Camp & Retreat Center reported on new activities for guests and a cooperative project with Applied Ecological Services. During the business plenary, the presbytery:

• Accepted the recommended agreement for the dismissal of First Presbyterian Church, Aurora to the Evangelical Presbyterian Church
• Moved from Inquirer to Candidate status: Janet Potter, Abby Mohaupt, and John Haselton.
• Honored Rev. John Hamilton and Rev. Tim Kidd as they leave the presbytery
• Honored Rev. Leon Aalberts and Rev. Bob Hillenbrand as they retired
• Welcomed Rev. David Spaulding as pastor, First Presbyterian Church, Dixon
