Cozy Blanket Ministry

Women from across the Presbytery of Blackhawk continue to make handmade quilts, lap robes, prayer shawls, afghans and tied fleece blankets for the ministry that first began when tornadoes struck our presbytery in 2015. We encourage you to use these in your own congregations and communities as needs arise with opportunities to share God's love with something made with prayers and love. If you have fabric, thread, yarn, etc. to share with those looking for materials to work with, let us know!

When bringing completed blankets to a Presbytery Meeting or a Gathering of Presbyterian Women, please let us know which church has donated them.

Contact Beverly Scharlau if you have questions or would like to participate in the Cozy Blanket Ministry (815-667-4970 or e-mail: tkdo1961@gmail.com).

FOR YOUR BULLETIN:

All are invited to participate in the Blackhawk Presbyterian Women's Cozy Blanket Ministry. This is not a Church World Service program, but a ministry intended to leverage the wonderful skills and hearts of our women to meet needs locally. Blankets are presented as gifts of love to neighbors in need who may be recovering from disaster or trauma. All shapes and sizes and types are welcome, lap blankets and prayer shawls included. They must be new/un-used and may be knitted, crocheted, quilted, knotted, embroidered, or otherwise hand- or machine sown. If you would like to help with this ongoing ministry project, please contact (insert the name of your local PW leader) or Beverly Scharlau, 815-667-4970 or e-mail: tkdo1961@gmail.com. There is information available about the new ministry on the Presbytery website (please include the link).
