2017 November Presbytery Meeting

The Stated Meeting of the Presbytery of Blackhawk was held on November 14, 2017 at Stronghold Camp & Retreat Center.
Rev. Matt Robinson was elected Moderator of Blackhawk Presbytery and Elder Dale Prindiville was elected Vice-Moderator for the upcoming year. They were installed along with a full slate of Commission and Committee members and Moderators.

The Presbytery discussed and voted to adopt a new statement:

Our Vision and Values

Grounded in the biblical image for human community, as disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ, we challenge and support congregations to be thriving faith communities by facilitating competent leadership and resourcing to energize ministry and mission.
As Christians, guided by the principles of love, trust, open communication, and genuine relationships, we value each other as sisters and brothers in faith in all our varied theological understandings. Therefore, we relish respectful discussions of differing opinions as a necessary part of discerning the will of God.

Other highlights:
  • Dates and locations for the 2018 Presbytery Assembly Meetings were announced (including a move to hold the June meeting at Stronghold, instead of November)
  • The final budget, with 2018 Per Capita of $36.34, was adopted
  • The Presbytery voted to approve the Covenant between the Presbytery and Stronghold (see below) another step toward separation of the two entities
  • A new, locally produced (thank you Rev. Jim McCrea) video entitled "The Gift of Per Capita" was introduced. Copies are available for use by all congregations
  • Presbytery was pleased to examine and approve for Ordination, Candidate Deb Swets. Ms. Swets will be Ordained in her home Presbytery of Milwaukee and installed at Plainfield Wheatland Presbyterian as their new pastor.
  • The offering to support scholarships for summer campers at Stronghold totaled $641.00! THANK YOU for your generosity!
